[Roleplay] The Moon Revisits

Title: The Moon Revisits
What: Charden Flamberg (Black Cat) and Arcueid Brunestud (Tsukihime). They go way back.
Notes: Island RP, I never could quit you.

Charden could scarcely believe his eyes when he saw the person who was in front of him.

It was midnight and there she was, in her pure white clothing and dark dress, leaning against a lamppost, her head tilted up towards the dark velvety sky dotted with stars. The moon cast a pale glow over the street which illuminated her figure and her crimson eyes. To most people, those eyes would seem strange and deadly. To Charden, while they were eyes of a monster, it was much more than that and it stirred within him memories of her warmth and innocence.

Her eyes met his and they both tensed up, words refusing to form, or rather, they were both thinking too hard about what to do first. But she smiled and waved, almost too casually. The Tao user found himself automatically walking towards her until there was only about a foot of distance between them.

"Arcueid."

Her name upon his lips did not sound real. She flushed, pleased with hearing him speak.

"Charden, it's… Eheh." She crossed her arms, smiling and he noticed that she was actually nervous.

"It's been so long right? Ah, but now I feel silly for saying something so apparent."

He didn’t reply and Arcueid blinked since she had been expecting him to. So she continued on, trying to fill in the silence.

"I’ve thought about visiting a lot, but for some reason, I held myself back. It occurred to me that I wasn’t really used to being able to go back to something or someone I… Well, it's just that after you were gone, I was really sad, but I'm used to never even having anything precious. You know what I mean right? I think it's alright though, isn't it?"

The look on her face seemed so resigned despite her smile and it pained him to see it so because he knew what she was going to say next.

"I mean, it's been a long time and if you don't feel the same anymore--... AH!"

Charden wouldn't do it. He wouldn't let her say it. And because he couldn't use words he let his actions speak for him and pulled Arcueid into his arms, embracing her with all his might.

"Ah!! Ch-Charden, I wasn't finished-...!"

"Don't. Just… Arcueid, I missed you. You don't need to say anything else."

She relaxed in his arms and wordlessly, she returned his embrace, face buried in his chest. They both stood there under the moonlight as he ran his fingers through her hair and she struggled not to show her tears, but they appeared anyways. And in their own way, they were able to say what they wanted without their voices.

Welcome back.

You won’t have to be alone anymore.

I love you.

✦ Later That Night ✦

Arcueid examined the hotel room critically and then out of nowhere remarked with all seriousness:

"You know, wouldn't it be compromising if we shared the same bed together, Charden? Unless, that was your plan all along...??"

Charden had to hold back a sputter, but there was nothing he could do to hide the sudden redness on his cheeks.

Still, it was nice to know she hadn't changed much.
