[Roleplay] Te Amo

Title: Te Amo
What: Marianna "Monts" ([personal profile] shadowflower) and her talking cat Fran talk about her failure to say those important words to Tucker Bailey ([personal profile] wardedhands).
Notes: Takes place sometime after this thread. WARNING: Stupid amounts of stupid cute.

Monts was rarely straight with people. She flirted, teased, and played with others feelings without actually hurting the people she toyed with. And if she did happen to do so she thought herself decent enough to apologize and make amends without ever having to compromise her behavior and habits. Although she was never truly cold, the shadowy flower of a demon she shared her body with made her cautious and distant. She didn't think she could truly give herself to another, not with the way she was, physically and emotionally.

Which was why it was a miracle to her that she was gazing down while full of warmth within at the peaceful napping face of the abnormal wizard and her now boyfriend, Tucker Bailey. She was leaning her folded arms on the back of the couch while he dozed off, reflecting on his presence and the past events that seemed too good to be true. Tucker's acidic magic was no longer a divide between them and he came back to close the gap much to her surprise and to some uncertainty on her part. But not only did he give her himself, he also offered her a chance to do something about the plague in her body; he offered her a chance to step forward and do something more about her plight.

A chance was all she ever wanted. To find him and to agree to be with him was so much more than she deserved.

As Monts reached down to twirl one of Tucker's curls between her fingers, Fran, her talking grey tabby, stepped into the living room with light steps and taking a leap onto the couch. Monts gave her a mild look of disapproval.

"You're going to wake him up."

"Oh, don't be silly. I think he's out like a light," the cat remarked peering down at the young man with her piercing green eyes.

"Mm. It's been a few hours already," said Monts turning her attention back to Tucker, with one hand hovering over his face. Fran chuckled.

"And you've just been here gazing at him in adoration. It's no thanks to him that you're not up to form Marianna."

"He surprised me," Monts murmured as she stood up straighter. "People rarely do that."

"You're young enough to be surprised by many things from now and by many things to come. Being told that you are loved and loving someone back is just one of those few things," Fran said with what she was sure was a sage feline nod. But she saw that Marianna looked conflicted by what she had just said. A minute of silence passed before it clicked.

"Marianna... he did say that he loved you didn't he?"

"Ah..." The young woman twirled her hair with one finger idly obviously trying to avoid giving an answer. Fran narrowed her eyes.

"And what about you? You DID say that you love-" Monts interrupted shaking her head furiously.

"NO! No! No. No, we just... neither of us said that." Fran had to admit that she was impressed with the flustered reaction. It was very much unlike her charge to let the lack of confidence shatter her collected exterior (Tucker Bailey was a wizard to be feared indeed).

"My dear, why on earth didn't either of you say such a thing?"

"Like YOU would know!" The girl crossed her arms and turned her back to the cat.

"Ay dios mio, we're not in some cheesy movie or story where when two people realize their feelings for each other, they declare it to the heavens with an angelic choir singing in the background! He and I, we just... it didn't seem like it was right to say it just then..." Monts trailed off reluctantly.

"... You can't avoid it forever. I'm no expert on human relations, but even so you need to be more direct or else it'll never work and-..."

"I know, I know. It's important isn't it? But that's why I don't know how to say it. Those words are too precious to just throw about freely. I'm not that careless to not realize that."

Silence. Fran stretched herself, tail flicking back and forth in the air, thinking.

"You still want to say it though don't you?"

"..."

"He's still asleep. Might as well start now." Fran jumped back down the floor and towards the kitchen.

"It's way past noon Marianna. I now would like some lunch in return for my enlightening advice."

Monts gave a derisive snort, but followed Fran to the kitchen regardless.

Ever since the Randall wizard made the miraculous wards that negated his magic, Tucker found himself sleeping with more peace of mind than he ever had in many, many years. It also helped that he was sleeping under a safe and warm roof that belonged to the girl he came back for and the one he cared about more fiercely than he had came to expect. Acceptance, care, and peace: he could get used to this. There was still a lot of things to think about for the future even as he slept; things like what he and Monts would do during their travels, how Jacob could help her with her demon, what they would do if it worked or if it didn't, how they would deal with her family...

"... Amo... te... amo .... amo ..."

And then there was a familiar voice that was drawing Tucker away from sleep and from the busy thoughts. His eyes opened slowly and his brows furrowed in concentration.

"... Te amo?" he muttered. Tucker heard a choke that could have only come from Monts. Sure enough, he turned his back and sat up to see her standing behind the couch with an expression that was hard to make out due to his sleepiness, but he was still awake enough to ask.

"That's what you said right?" Monts shrugged sheepishly.

"... Yes." Tucker yawned rubbing one eye with his hand.

"Not a wake up a bloke would expect to hear after getting some shut eye. Is it supposed to mean something?"

Monts blinked.

"Yes. It's Spanish." He rose a brow at Monts since she was obviously being dodgy again.

"Spanish for what?"

Monts opened her mouth as if she was going to give him the answer, but instead she leaned her face in close to his and with an inscrutable, but sweet expression she simply said,

"You figure it out."

And before he could hazard a guess, her lips pressed against his and all Tucker could think about was how he was very okay with this sort of wake up call, te amo or not.
